Message from the ANPD Nursing Professional Development Leadership Academy program coordinator

As the program coordinator for the ANPD Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Leadership Academy, I want to invite you or your NPD colleagues to apply for the 2020-2021 cohort. The NPD Leadership Academy prepares NPD practitioners like you and those on your team to navigate a complex healthcare environment, to be leaders in their organization, and successfully demonstrate the value of nursing professional development. 

Based on the content in the Leadership in Nursing Professional Development: An Organizational and System Focus (Smith & Harper, 2016), the NPD Leadership Academy is a 12-month mentored program that consists of a face-to-face pre-convention workshop at ANPD's 2020 Annual Convention followed by live webinars throughout the year. In addition, you will develop an evidence-based leadership project within your organization which you are encouraged to submit as an abstract for the 2021 ANPD Annual Convention. The full program syllabus is available on the ANPD website. 

At the conclusion of this 12-month program, you will be able to translate your NPD skills into savvy leadership as your role progresses from the bedside to the boardroom. 

Use the NPD Leadership Academy justification letter to make a strong argument to your manager or supervisor for the return on investment you will deliver to your organization by participating in the Leadership Academy. Applications for the 2020-2021 Leadership Academy are open through November 3, 2019.
