Every year in September, nursing professional development (NPD) practitioners around the world celebrate Nursing Professional Development Week. Especially in critical times, the education and mentorship our NPD colleagues provide is crucial.  

NPD practitioners make a positive impact every day. Our NPD colleagues provide nurses with quality education throughout all stages of their careers, ensuring that nurses and organizations are recognized for quality, evidence-based practice, and patient safety. NPD practitioners are essential supporters of frontline workers.

Nursing professional development practitioners provide programs such as:

• Orientation and transition to practice programs
• Competency assessment
• Continuing education contact hours
• Education on use of new equipment, policies and procedures
• Coordination of student affiliations

During this week, we celebrate the achievements of our colleagues and teach others about the profession.
